Day 24: We have Wood

All the framing materials (beams, joists, lintels, studs, etc) were delivered today.   Carlisle currently stick build their frames rather than use prefabricated sections, with the exception being the trusses which are brought in pre-assembled as framing nears completion.

The polystyrene blocks in the image above are the waffle voids used in the slab construction.  Refer to Day 19: We have a (Poly-)Waffle Slab for more information.

In the foreground of the image below you can see the 300 grade steel beams which will be used for additional strength to support the larger open areas and spans within the house.

Final Construction Drawings

Today we received two copies of our Final Construction Drawings, Colour Selections, Sketches and a building variation.  This represents the last opportunity we have to ensure all is correct before moving into the construction phase.

Once the content is confirmed as ok, Carlisle have requested that every page on both copies is signed by us and one complete set returned to Carlisle for their records, with the other remaining with us as the client copies.

From the contract stage there have been a number of further reports and site surveys that have been undertaken which have been reflected in the building variation.
